Solar Spectra

Context

The solar absolute spectral energy distribution outside the atmosphere, and its variability are an essential input to atmospheric models. The measurement of the solar spectrum between 165 and 3100 is important for:

  • photochemistry of the middle atmosphere,
  • climatology,
  • and solar physics.
It is necessary for solar models that calculate the minor components by photo-dissociation followed by recombination.
